Norman Carr Safaris
Norman Carr Safaris has been operating in the South Luangwa since 1950, the memories and legacy of its founder, the legendary Norman Carr, live on strongly throughout the company. The Camps under Norman Carr Safaris are each different from the other and we believe that they combine very well together.

Day 1 – 3 Luwi Bush-Camp
Luwi is set inside the National Park, 2 hours’ drive from Mfuwe Airport. It is a remote and what we would term ‘traditional’ bush-camp with only 4 rooms, each made of reed and thatch. Remoteness is the order of the day at this camp as no other tourists will be encountered in this area of the Park. Luwi is predominantly a walking camp with short night drives complimenting morning and afternoon walks.

Day 3 – 5 Nsolo Bush-Camp
Transfers from Luwi to Nsolo are usually done on foot as a morning walking safais. The 4 rooms at Nsolo are very spacious, set on raised wooden decks with grass walls and thatch roofs. Each room is designed differently and has its own veranda and private views across the Luwi sand river bed.

Day 5 – 6 Luwi Riverbed Sleep-Out
Guests depart from Nsolo as though on a normal afternoon walking safari but as the sun goes down arrive at a pre-designated camping spot in the Luwi sand river-bed. Mattresses and mosquito nets along with cold-boxes with food and drinks will have been left for you. Your guide and armed escort scout will set camp for the night, you will cook diner on the camp fire and sleep under the stars with the noises of the African night to keep you company.

Day 6 – 8 Kakuli Bush-Camp
At dawn wake to a new day, the memories of the African night sky will stay with you a lifetime. After eggs and bacon again cooked over the camp fire, choose to either walk or drive to Kakuli Tented Camp. This beautiful camp has 5 traditional walk-in safari tents each with en-suite bathrooms made with natural materials. The bar and dining chitenje (lounge) is constructed of reed and thatch forming the centre point of camp.

Day 8
A scheduled flight of 1hr 10 minutes will see you arrive at Lusaka International Airport where you will connect to your onward flight.
