Islands of Siankaba

Of the private camps upstream from the Victoria Falls, Islands of Siankaba is the furthest and most remote, it is set in a stretch of the Zambezi that is littered with winding channels and enchanting islands. The lodge has been built on 2 densely forested islands in the Zambezi River 25 miles upstream of the Victoria Falls. 6 secluded, elevated chalets on one of the islands are linked to each other by a raised walkway and to the main bar and dining area on the other island by a foot bridge.

The uniquely designed chalets are constructed of teak and custom made canvas tenting, they are raised well above ground level and have private balconies extending over the river.

The Islands of Siankaba have been developed into a luxurious five star lodge, great attention has been placed on the design and finishing of the rooms, the cuisine is of an excellent standard and as with most exclusive camps in Zambia the service is second to none.

Activites at Siankaba include guided birding and tree walks on the main island’s nature trail, guided fishing trips, sunset river cruises and dug-out canoe trips exploring the islands. Day trips to the Victoria Falls and Botswana’s Chobe National Park are arranged on a daily basis.

The Islands of Siankaba is an ideal destination for people who wish to visit the Victoria Falls but who would prefer to stay away from the hustle and bustle around Livingstone Town and the Falls themselves. I always reckon that Siankaba is an excellent choice for those staying in the Livingstone area for 3 days or more and who do not want to spend every minute of their time in death defying feats of holiday madness.
